Octium Life DAC
We are a unit-linked life insurance provider, originally established in Dublin in 2003 as UBS International Life LTD.
In 2017, the company was acquired by the Octium Group and changed its name to Octium Life DAC.
In 2021, the Group further expanded its footprint by acquiring Octium Assurance AG, a life insurance company established in Liechtenstein, with a branch in Italy, as Credit Suisse Life & Pensions AG.
At the end of 2024, Octium Assurance AG was merged into Octium Life DAC, unifying the Group’s operations under a single, strengthened entity.
Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, Octium Life operates within one of the EU’s most established and strongly regulated jurisdictions.
Supervised by the Central Bank of Ireland, Octium Life adheres to all relevant legislation and is fully compliant with the EU Solvency II framework.
In line with the rest of the group, we make solvency, security and policyholder protection a priority.
We have approximately €8.5 billion of assets under management, serving policyholders in multiple international locations.
A new name with traditional values.
Ireland, a strong hub for private insurance
Financial Stability
Ireland offers a politically stable and economically dynamic environment, recently reaffirmed by its “AA” credit rating from Standard & Poor’s (as of November 2024), providing confidence to policyholders and wealth advisors alike.
Active Regulatory Oversight
The Central Bank of Ireland rigorously supervises insurers through regular financial reporting and governance reviews, backed by a strong enforcement framework and personal accountability for key executives.
Policyholder Asset Protection
Irish law mandates the segregation of policyholder assets from the insurer’s own funds, granting policyholders privileged creditor status.
Strict Implementation of Solvency II Directive
Ireland enforces the strictest interpretation of the Solvency II framework, ensuring robust capital adequacy, risk management, and governance standards for all insurers.
Extensive Tax Treaty Network
Ireland maintains double taxation treaties with over 75 countries, making it especially attractive for international clients seeking compliant, globally aligned wealth solutions.
VAT Exemption
Irish life insurance policies benefit from 4th schedule VAT exemptions on custodian and asset management fees, when funds are discretionary managed by a professional asset manager.
Portability
Policies issued in Ireland can often retain their benefits across borders, supporting clients who are moving internationally without resulting in the contract termination.
